If you’re new to longboarding, we’ve created this guide to help you choose the right electric long board for you and your riding style.
In order to save time, we didn’t bother to write out every step, but instead focused on getting you up and running as quickly as possible.
If we missed anything, please let us know and we’ll update this article.
Here’s a quick overview of each of the options, along with our recommendations.
We’ve split the longboards into two main categories: the standard electric long, and custom electric long.
Both of these longboards are basically the same: a shortboard with a longboard, and both of them use the same motor to drive the longboard.
Both have the same seat, same battery, and same electronics.
But we’ll get to each separately, because we want to start with the electric longs.
The standard electric Longboard (left) and the custom electric LongBoard (right)With the standard longboard you get the standard motor, battery, battery charger, and an included battery charger.
The electric long is the one you want if you want to get the most out of the battery and the long board.
The standard electric is more durable, and can easily last for a lifetime.
The custom electric is made of more durable materials, but the long has a lower battery life.
If you’re looking for a shorter electric long for commuting, or just want a bit more comfort on a longer bike, then the standard is a great option.
If that’s not your style, then you should look at the custom long.
This longboard uses the same basic motor, but adds some extra features like a custom seat, a longer seat tube, and a battery pack.
If these features are more important to you, then this custom long is probably for you too.
You can get a great longboard with the custom motor, seat, and battery pack for under about $100.
If this is a new purchase, we recommend checking out our full guide to the best longboard for under half that price.
This guide also has a few tips on how to build your own longboard if you don’t have any existing longboards.
We have also included some recommendations for which electric long should you buy.
If a certain type of longboard is better suited for you, you can go ahead and pick it out.
We also included a few different electric long models for different types of riding.
If there are other types of longboards out there you want, we have that covered too.
These are the best-looking longboards, in our opinion, and are great for commuting.
The stock electric long has the best balance of comfort and durability, while the custom model has better weight distribution and is lighter.
If the stock electric is better than the custom, then go with the stock long.
If your budget allows, we’d recommend getting a custom electric short for under around $200.
If it’s cheaper, then consider getting a standard electric short or an electric long long.
If not, the custom short is definitely worth it.
This electric long uses the standard motors and battery and offers some extra hardware.
The new electric long gives a more stable balance of power and weight distribution, but you can’t have both at the same time.
If your favorite longboard model is too expensive, then we also recommend checking for a custom long instead.
